Hello friends,
Happy 2025! Wishing everyone a safe, healthy and prosperous new year. We have been quite busy this month. I’m excited to be working with the amazing staff at The Gelman Library on reproducing some of the most interesting materials from The Janet G. Travell Papers, and we’ll be sharing our finds in this newsletter.
In this issue, Nancy Shaw has written the first in a series of articles entitled, “Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy, What’s Missing?: The Travell Protocol.” This article outlines a book that Janet Travell and Nancy Shaw were working on in 1997. Over the years, Nancy has been using The Travell Protocol in her practice, and currently is working on the book that Travell envisioned; a companion guide to the trigger point manuals.
Don’t miss Devin Starlanyl’s article, “Janet Travell Stories,” with insightful and endearing retellings by Janet Travell’s esteemed colleagues.
One big project that I’m working on is to publish the out-of-print trigger point manuals on the foundation website and here on Substack, for educational purposes. These texts will be searchable and provide an invaluable research tool for myofascial trigger point practitioners.
Our incredible team of Travell enthusiasts is growing, and we are working on submitting Travell’s published papers and unpublished research to online medical research libraries worldwide. We also have a team of artists working on creating an online library of trigger point illustrations for our subscribers to use for educational purposes, such as teaching and creating self-care handouts for patients.
For those of you who are new to The Travell Trigger-Point Tapes, this video series filmed by Dr. Ben Daitz in 1990 features Janet Travell teaching about myofascial trigger point therapy, and is packed full of wisdom and insight.
For the month of January, we’re giving away a complete set of The Travell Trigger-Point Tapes, valued at $200, to our new annual paid subscribers!
I’ll be posting more articles during the week as they are finished.
