Finally, here’s our first issue of Perpetuating Factors, The Janet Travell Foundation Newsletter!
We’re excited to begin publishing this newsletter, hopefully on a weekly basis. In this issue, you’ll find one of Janet Travell’s research papers, The Myofascial Genesis of Pain. There are two versions here; a 10 page research paper and a 20 page science exhibit. And unless you were in the habit of reading medical journals around 1950, you probably have never seen either one.
I asked Dr. Ben Daitz to write his “origin story” about the first time he met Janet Travell. His story, One Autumn Day in 1986, is a delightful must-read.
Some of you remember The Travell Trigger-Point Tapes, which were written, produced and directed by Dr. Daitz in 1990, and feature Dr. Janet Travell demonstrating and teaching myofascial trigger point therapy in six sessions. The Travell Trigger-Point Tapes are now available for pre-order in a digital format.
I wrote an opinion piece of sorts, A History of Manual Trigger Point Therapy, in which I review Janet Travell’s legacy and contributions to myofascial trigger point therapy.
The article, Scientific and Popular Articles, Interviews and Conferences is a list of materials authored by Janet Travell. As each document is digitized, we’ll publish it as a new article in the newsletter and add it to the online library.
Upcoming articles include Nancy Shaw’s new series; The Travell Protocol. Stay tuned for updates.
Also check out Virginia’s Blog, a collection of articles from her Facebook page, Janet Travell, MD.
I welcome your questions and comments. If you have an origin story (How I met Janet Travell), please send it and we’ll publish it in the newsletter. If you have a particular article you’d like to have digitized, please send the article title from the list of Travell’s published papers and we’ll bump it to the front of the line.
